The parade begins at Village on the Green, just north of the Braelinn Golf Course, on Peachtree Parkway at 9 AM. The parade will travel north on the Parkway, cross over Crosstown Road and proceed north. It will turn left on McIntosh Trail and left again into the parking lot of the McIntosh Trail Recreation Complex. The route is approximately 2 miles

WHAT IS IT?

The #800gChallenge was designed by OptimizeMe Nutrition. Eat 800 grams (g) or fruits and/or vegetables, by weight, per day.

No foods are eliminated, but only fruits and veggies count toward the 800g. Eat the fruits and veggies or your choice. Hit the macros you want.

Raw, cooked, canned, frozen; doesn’t matter!  If you can weigh it as a standalone and unprocessed fruit or vegetable, you can count it. Yep, that’s it!

Why 800g? It’s associated with increased health and is a simplified way to hit those recommended servings of fruits and vegetables. Read more here. There are some pictures that show what 800g look like in different carbohydrate loads.

DATES

4 Feb-3 Mar: 4 Weeks. Starts on Monday the 4th, ends on Sunday the 3rd.
The last day to sign up will be Jan 31st. If you sign up by Sunday 27 Jan, we’ll provide you with a food scale.
*Body Composition Testing Dates (Need to fast 4+hours prior and not after exercise)
PreCompetition: Thursday, Jan 31, 7:00-9:00 AM & Saturday, Feb 2, 8:00-9:30 AM
Post Competition: Monday, 4 Mar, before Workouts (fast 4+hours prior).
* You don’t have to use the Bod Pod if you don’t want to.

MEETING

We will host a meeting at the gym to go over all the challenge rules and answer your questions. Be there!

COST

Cost is $55. This will include a pre and post body composition analysis via the BOD POD. It will also include a food scale if you sign up by Sunday, Jan 27th.

SCORING

You will use your app to enter your points each day. There is a tab for challenges where everything will populate. There are 250 total points up for grabs upon completion of the challenge. Top 3 totals win prizes.

You'll receive points each day or week based on the following:
(3 points) Eating: 800g of Fruit and Vegetables / Day
(1 Point) Eating Diversity: Consume 800g from at least 6 different sources.
(2 Points) Workout: at DSSC (2 points max per day/ 10 point Max /week).
(2 Point) Getting Social: Social Media Post tagging DSSC and the #800g Challenge (4 points Max/Week).
(10 Points) Accumulate 1500 Calories on the AirBike, AirRunner, Ski Erg or Rower. Can be inside or outside of the gym.* Must be on a device that calculates calories the same as ours.
(10 Points) Accumulate 1500 Squats. Any style count. Can be inside or outside the gym.
(12 Points) A positive change in body composition. **Defined as either an increase in lean body mass/ decrease in fat mass or both.
**There are situations where losing body fat might not be a positive change (we’ll handle that on an individual basis)

PRIZES

We will award prizes to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place based on the scoring above. The prize pool will be valued at $500.

A competition unlike any other.

Help us raise funds for The Reveille Project (TRP). This amazing organization helps disabled veterans transition from active duty to civilian life. TRP veterans receive scholarships to local CrossFit affiliates, nutrition counseling and access to a community that supports them on a social, emotional and spiritual level.

The format of the event is brutally simple. Row as hard as you can for 10 minutes, rest for 50 minutes, repeat for 24 hours. Prizes will be awarded to the male and female who row the most cumulative meters. Additional prizes will be given out during incentive rounds, known as Primes, throughout the event. This is not a team event. Individuals only.

2019 Southern Open

The Southern Open in Newnan, Ga is one of the oldest if not the oldest continuously running local meets in the nation. It was started in 1965 by Coach Ben Green, and is now run by Scott Ragon, and other Hunley Weightlifters under Ben Green. 

This is a great meet for beginners and advanced lifters. We always have a great showcase of lifting and look forward to continuing the growth of weightlifting through this meet for many years. All experience levels welcome. Contested lifts will be the Snatch and Clean and Jerk. Medals awarded for all weight class, and age brackets.

A hands on educational and practical look at men's and women's core strength to include the pelvic floor. The training will include diaphragmatic breathing and functional movement progressions as they pertain to pelvic floor strength and function. We will cover areas that are often overlooked or mistaken as normal as well as talk about certain symptoms of pelvic floor disfunction that might affect your training or even daily life.

Memorial Day Murph

The workout "Murph" is in honor and memory of Michael Patrick Murphy, a United States Navy SEAL officer who was awarded the U.S. military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions during the War in Afghanistan. 

This workout was one of his favorites:
1 Mile Run
100 Pull ups
200 Push Ups
300 Air Squats
1 Mile Run
* If you have body armor or a weight vest, wear it. 

Like always, we will have versions and modifications for this workout for anyone who wants to participate. 1/2 Murph / Team Murph etc etc

Registration for the Open begins Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018.

The Open is the first stage of the CrossFit Games season and the largest community event of the year. Every year, hundreds of thousands of athletes come together to compete in the worldwide, online competition.

Anyone aged 14 or older can compete. All you have to do is sign up at Games.CrossFit.com and log your score each week. Workouts are released on Thursdays at 5 p.m. PT, and athletes have four days to complete the workout for the week and submit their score. Scores are due before 5 p.m. PT the following Monday. Complete the workouts at a CrossFit affiliate with a judge, or film your effort from anywhere in the world and submit a link as proof.

The Open offers two versions of each workout, scaled and Rx'd. The scaled option makes the event all-inclusive. All athletes can compare their results to others worldwide, regionally, by age or within their own gyms. An official CrossFit Games app will be available in late January, which will focus on your own personal performance in the Open.  

At the end of five weeks, the fittest move on to the next stages of competition: the Regionals and the Online Qualifier.

Kickball for Kids

Presented by your local CrossFit and Fitness Facilities in Coweta and Fayette County.

Kickball for kids is a kickball tournament to raise money for two local charities. The charities will be ones that raise money to help kids and families in need during the holidays. The charities will be voted on by the participating gyms.
